The Rev. Joseph Dirbas

Rector

Fr. Dirbas was called as the 8th rector of All Souls’ Episcopal Church in late 2013 and began his ministry in the parish in February 2014. Fr. Dirbas was born in Livonia, Michigan, but his family moved to San Diego in 1975. Joe attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and received a bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering. He completed his master's degree in Electrical Engineering at Cal State, Fullerton in 1992 and spent the next 15 years working in the defense industry in the San Diego area.

Fr. Dirbas answered God's call to ordained ministry and attended seminary at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church. Fr. Dirbas received his M.Div. in May 2010, was ordained to the diaconate in June 2010, and received his priestly ordination in December 2010. Fr. Dirbas began his ministry as an associate at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Del Mar in July 2010.

While in seminary, Fr. Dirbas met his wife, Terry Shields Dirbas, who also serves as a priest in the diocese of San Diego. Together, they are the proud parents of twins born in 2012, George Joseph Dirbas and Jean Lyon Dirbas, and Catherine Chatham Dirbas (Chatham) born in November 2016. They also have a Persian cat named Pebbles and seem to perpetually discuss adding a canine to the family. Fr. Dirbas enjoys baseball, golf, and times with friends and family. You may email Fr. Dirbas at jdirbas@allsoulspointloma.org or reach him at our church office 619-223-6394 x12.
