Adult Christian Education

At All Souls', we recognize that all aspects of our communal life have an impact on our formation as Christians. As such, All Souls' is dedicated to enhancing the spiritual lives of our parishioners by offering opportunities to grow and learn. We offer many resources to support you on your journey of faith. These resources include a lively worship life and the opportunity to participate in lay ministry, an on-campus library, Sunday Morning Forums, Seasonal Evening Offerings, Bible Studies, and Small Groups. Here are some of the education and formation opportunities at All Souls'.

Sunday Morning Forums:

Our Sunday Adult Christian Education is offered between services, at 9:10 am allowing conversation between and among those who attend either of our two Sunday services. The forums may be led by the All Souls' Clergy, members of our parish, or experts from the community. Topics include Scripture, Liturgy, Church History, Social Justice, Spirituality, and Theology.

We often group forums in multi-part series addressing topics of interest such as World Religions, Science and Faith, and Preparing for the end of life. Even though these may take place over a series of weeks, you can jump in any time. And, if you're interested in sessions you've missed, visit our sermon player for audio recordings of all our forums. Join us in the Sherman Room at 9:10 am on Sunday Mornings. You never know what you might learn!

Visit our Adult Forum page to learn more about our upcoming offerings.

Seasonal Offerings:

Our seasonal offerings include Wednesday evening soup suppers during Lent and Advent with a presentation on a particular topic or book study for the season and conversation in small groups. Topics will be announced about 1 month before the series begins. If you have suggestions for topics please feel free to share them with Fr. Joe.

Bible Study:

All Souls' has a Thursday morning Bible study which meets regularly. Our Bible study is open to all people at all times. Join us as we learn together.

Thursday Mornings 10:15 am - 11:15 am

The Bible study is open to all. No matter where you are in your journey, you are welcome. Come join us for coffee and snacks and good conversation and fellowship. The Word of God is food for our souls. Bring your favorite version or use one of our Bibles.

Education for Ministry (EfM):

EfM is a program of theological education provided as an extension course from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. The program is a study of the Old and New Testaments, church history, and ancient and modern theologians. EfM is much more than bible study; students learn to reflect theologically on their own lives and the world around them, using many sources. Seminar groups study, discuss, worship, and pray together, carrying on the journey of spiritual formation as a community.

School for Ministry:

The School for Ministry (SFM) is the diocesan school for anyone interested in learning more about subjects such as Hebrew Scriptures, Christian Scriptures, Church History, etc. It is open to all adult learners: people considering ordained ministry, as well as people interested in deepening their knowledge and understanding of these topics. Auditing classes is welcomed and encouraged, as is visiting for one class to see how you like it. For more information, visit the diocesan website www.edsd.org.
