Christian Formation

Christian Formation Offerings

At All Souls' we offer two opportunities for Christian Formation:

Each Sunday at 9:10 a.m., in the Sherman Room, we meet for an approximately 45 minute gathering and discuss topics pertinent to today's life.  Our beginning sessions for the next couple of weeks will focus on charitable discourse, often from guest speakers.  As C. E. committee member Dr. Mark Mann states, "We live in what some scholars have called the most divisive time in American history since the Civil War. Whether that is the case, it’s clear that division, discord and polarization exist not only in our country, but sadly also in the church. But God calls us to unity, so this fall we will conduct a Sunday morning series of forums in which we explore resources and tools for finding unity in Christ to counteract the ways that the Enemy would seek to drive us apart."

Come one, come all for some Christian Education! You are warmly invited to a NEW Sunday evening parish gathering: First Sunday Fellowship!

This special evening is designed for ALL parishioners... including families with children. We will gather on the first Sunday evening of each month; we had a wonderful initial event on October 1st and our next gathering will be November 5th from 5:00 - 7:00pm. A meal will be served for fellowship from 5:00 - 5:30pm. Then, three groups will be formed: adults, youth, and young children. The "grown-ups" will remain in Gooden Hall, while the youth and children convene in the Sherman and childcare rooms, respectively. We will explore important topics with guest speakers and have time for discussion with our fellow parishioners.

Our topic on November 5th will be... “I Don’t Know What I'm Doing! Overcoming Interpersonal Obstacles To Loving Our Neighbor”

Our featured speaker will be Dr. Ross Oakes Mueller, PLNU Professor, who's done research in the area of moral psychology and character development. We will continue Dr. Mark Mann's discussion of generative care as a vision of love, further identifying seven virtues that enhance our ability to care for our neighbor… even when we don’t “feel” like it.

Please sign up by sending an email to (We'd like to know how much food to prepare.) However, even if you haven't signed up, please join!

This idea was generated at a parent gathering in fall 2022; we're excited to put it into action and begin this journey together!

Please RSVP to to tell us you and how many others will a attend.  If you have any questions, please e-mail Scott Crispell at  We look forward to seeing you there.
